In the afternoon the Squadron advanced and carried the ridge formerly denied us by the Enemy. Reg was protecting a right flank and advancing along a ridge there with his troop; We captured the ridge and all firing had practically ceased and Reg was sitting up looking into a hollow, I was walking over towards him and was only a few yards away when he was hit. He was very cheery and seemed in good heart and was not suffering any pain. I remained with him until the Ambulance took him, and now understand that he died during the night with the 1st L.H.F.A.'
